I thought maybe it was an epic that was 'upgraded' to Bartolini or EMG's.  :-)
Although, looking again they look like band new so maybe it was a restoration project or some activator circuits for a project that didn't get finished.

The workings of an Alembic “chop shop?” If they can do it with cars why not guitars?
