Title: 78 MSB on ebay
Post by: KR on September 28, 2022, 11:13:22 AM
The condition of this one...looks like it was used as a paddle in a flood. Road worn.

Looks like someone's basement flooded and the bass didn't get out in time or have boat to jump in to.

That's pretty extreme. Other than a replaced switch though, it looks like it's all there. I don't even like using the expression, but there's a 'beater' Alembic if I ever saw one... and medium-scale too. Yessir. Play the splinters out of it.

*Reverb ad has pics of the electronics...

Top laminate near the electronics cavity is separated from the body core. Also looks like there was some water damage..or tons of sweat to the lower point. This looks like a lot of work, cool but I'd pass unless I could check it out in person.

I thought the same thing. Mold in the electronics cavity too.

Putting aside any issues with the electronics or structural damage, i like the aesthetic of the bass and would rather a bass like that, road worn or traumatic event but still solid and functioning as designed, to paying for a new bass that has been made to look roadworn.
I wonder what the actual condition is.

I would certainly agree with Jazzy on the craziness of purchasing a new bass that is made to look road worn. Personally, I just don’t get it. How frequently did the medium scale versions of these get built? I have one myself but most that I’ve seen are 34s. And there’s the Standard Point Series 1 that recently came up on Reverb that’s a short scale which I’m assuming is even more rare.
