Title: Raytheon knob with stripped set screws- Cure!
Post by: edwin on September 27, 2022, 06:56:11 PM
I have an Ibanez 2680 into which I built a preamp. I used Raytheon knobs because they are so cool. I decided to do some updates to the preamp, with some new pots and discovered that the set screws for one were completely stripped. I was thinking about drilling them out or some other dangerous, destructive procedure, but a quick perusal on the net revealed the best way: Use a small Torx driver. Voila! Make sure you apply reasonable pressure. They came right out. The Torx driver works because it has the ridges and it goes from very small at the tip to wider as you go up from the tip.

Thanks for the tip… that could probably work in other situations with stripped screws. 👍🏼
