Hello hallowed forum of fellow Alembicians,
I am interested in adding an additional filter and Q switch to my EmW electronics. Can this be done and how much would it cost?
Most likely a question for Mica, but anyone in the know - please respond.
Thanks!!!

Well, the first thing is to see if there is enough room - so a picture of the cavity will help in that.
Usually 2 filters will work on 2 separate pickups. Right now you have a system with global tone controls. Will have to double check with dad, but you can surely keep the bass and treble with one filter. Having separate filters for each pickup and then adding global bass and treble would take some new engineering.

Mica, I would like the filter on my new build to have the filter only working on the neck pickup, while having the Bass/treble working for both. Is that possible? Keith

Hello Mica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for my late response. This is for a custom build I am doing, so space is not an issue. I actually prefer that the bass and treble controls are dedicated to the bridge position pickup. I would like to add the filter and Q for the neck position.
Also, to lighten the knob layout, I would like to add a pointer knob for the pickup balance control, which has a 1/4 inch shaft. Do you have pointer knobs that will fit a 1/4 shaft?
Thank you for your response

alemboid, does this bass have the electronics configuration you are looking for?

Hi there!
Well, kind of - in that this Rogue has Signature electronics with an added bass and treble. I once had a similar set up with bass and treble boost/cut switches.
In effect, my EMW could become what the Rogue has in your example. Mica commented that with the EMW, the bass and treble pots would not be global and only effect the rear pickup, which is fine with me - but acceptable either way. In a sense, my EMW would become a signature setup but differ slightly -
EMW = Blend, Volume, 1x Filter, 1x Q switches, Bass, Treble + extra Filter and Q switch
Signature= Blend, Volume, 2x Filter, 2x Q switches
I hope Mica can respond - this project is waiting for its final layout :-)

I think I've already answered that we can add the switches to one of the filters, and it seems like you have that understood well so I don't have to check with dad on a global tone control solution for you. You have enough experience to see that things will fit in your cavity.
It looks like the only unanswered item is the pointer knob issue. Pointer knobs actually take MORE room in the sweep than round knobs. I don't have any for 1/4" shaft in stock, but they are available, but note they are a good bit larger than the ones we have for CVQ/pickup selectors.
Best to email if you want to place an order for any of these items.

Hi Mica -
As you know, the EMW has a filter and a Q switch. I want to add an additional filter and Q switch so that each pickup has its own devoted filter and Q switch, but the the bridge pickup will have the bass and treble devoted to it. That being said, I wouldn't complain if the bass and treble was global either. I just liked the idea of more flexibility to the bridge pickup.
There is a link with a Rogue above that basically shows what I am trying to do - it has Signature Electronics with the addition of a bass and treble circuit. My desired setup would be similar, but the B&T would NOT be global, devoted to the rear pickup. I am so sorry if I am confusing! I'll sending you an email (Virtual Hearts and flowers in abundance :) )
