That’s a nice one :)

A beauty for sure. Is that a Halliburton bass case?!?
-
Yes, these Zero-Halliburton cases were sold by Gibson for a very short time in the mid-70s. I thought I was the only guy still using them. :D I always figured aluminum and foam was the lightest possible combination for a road case. I've owned several and still have a couple new shells left - because they wear out. Eventually they get so bent out of shape that the lid no longer closes. I also do a couple mods to make them more usable. Surprised to see this on with the fully furnished interior.
Oh, nice bass too!

A few tire kickers but still available. All reasonable offers will be considered. Thanks for looking!

Curious what serial number this is. It reminds me of 75-183, with the curved rosewood fingerboard and single screw pickups, also the bridge. But yours is long scale! Imho this one (yours) is from the very nicest zebrawood log. 76-270 of mine is the one it matches most. Interestingly, the neck on 270 also has walnut veneers, only with a cherry center veneer that matches its cherry core.
I have, ahem, three zebrawood alembic basses, but I still wish I had yours!:) I can’t imagine someone won’t buy it. And with the Halliburton!:) Jimmy J do they still make those?

Ah yes, Zero Halliburton, the drug dealers case of choice in the old days! I have one that we used for an experiment in a case about 30 years ago. (We filled the case with "drugs" - actually aspirin tablets and bags of flour - and left it underwater in a lagoon for a couple of months. Yes, it was waterproof). For the last 15 years or so I've been using it to carry all the PA and Mic cables.

Don't mean to hijack the thread - that's a great looking bass!
Zero-Haliburton used to be in Burbank but moved to Arizona (I think) some years back. And then I think they were eventually bought by a Japanese luggage company. They still had the stampers for this model 126X when I originally contacted them years ago. Then they no longer had the long aluminum "piano hinge" so they used two shorter ones. Then they didn't have the proper stays to keep the lid open open 90 degrees. And once they made me a couple from their original plans which had the handle dead-center instead of off-set (not so good), etc... I still have a couple NOS shells left, but as I said they take some modding to make them practical: new stays, oak runners along the bottom replacing the 4 wimpy briefcase feet that they came with, locking latches, custom foam inserts, etc... Not super practical, but these cases have served me well for many years.
OK, now back on topic. Nice bass!!

On the subject of this bass, it's a looker, and a genuine Alembic Classic. Remarkably similar to #75-240, that belongs to a good buddy, and former regular on this Board who has gone missing. Sure hope he's okay.
Yessir, fine old Series I here.

I didn’t mean to get off topic! The bass is beautiful and awesome. And a good deal I think. Best of luck with it!
-
Thanks for the kind words and well wishes, someone is gonna love this bass.
The serial number is 75 18X so its within a few digits of 75 183 and probably from the same tree :)
Cheers

That isn't the same Haliburton associated with a certain former (Vice)-President, is it?

Lots of interest, but still available.....

Jimmy J: I seem to recall your brother had a Haliburton case when he played with Maynard Ferguson in the 70s.
I recall watching him set up. Rented cabinet, bass, Walter Woods amp, cables, charts, and a guitar stand that clamped to the cabinet all in one case.

Still available and open to reasonable offers and trades.
