Title: new member learning the rules
Post by: Mlazarus on July 14, 2022, 04:40:59 PM
I noticed i'm writing comments about many different topics under the same "subject" box.  i caught myself, so, i will make sure
i do better having new subjects in the correct category. I'm a new one you know. LOL.

We don't tend to be sticklers around here on what folks should or should not put into their threads or for that matter a lot of things you would be chastised for on other forums. By having separate topics it does make it easier to follow but for someone learning about their instrument having it all in one place can also be a good thing. Back to rules, the only real ones are to be civil in posts and to stay away from divisive topics.

Agreed, we ain’t no sticklers around here!   One thing to avoid, though, is posting the same content in multiple threads.  We sometimes see this when a newby is trying to sell something.   Unlike a place like thegearpage, this site isn’t inundated with hundreds of posts a day.   I believe most of us read most of the posts, so if you post it once, it will get read.

Understood. I'm glad this is a laid back forum.

Also, my favorite hyperlink in the forum is the one just under "Hello ..." at the top of the page.  That is "Show unread posts since last visit".  If you literally click through all the posts one time, then next time you log in you can click on "Show unread..." and you'll get a list of only those threads which have new additions.  That makes it very easy to follow anybody's stories or threads.  As Keith said, we're a fairly small but enthusiastic group here so don't worry about too much about rules.
