Wanted to let the local Alembic crew know that I will be playing with Axial Tilt on July 23 and 24 at Somo Village in Rohnert Park, CA. Outdoor venue located in the same town as the new Alembic facility. I was asked to fill in for Robin Sylvester who is still recovering from recent surgery and had to cancel. Big shoes for me to fill...get well soon Robin!
Looking forward to playing my Series II bass at a gig close to where it was built (Santa Rosa).
4:30 doors, 5:30 show time. One acoustic and two electric sets per night.

Thanks Rob, should be fun! Hope you get to play out again soon, too.

That's a great line-up of musicians.

Sounds like a fun gig to me. Have a Grate time! ;)

Thanks David and Greg! Wish we were playing for an official Alembic gathering and everyone in the club could come.

Any pics, Stephen?

Hey Greg... running on fumes after a long weekend making music with old and new friends along with lots of merriment and marked by a lack of much quality sleep. Totally worth it despite being baked by the sun then chilled by the 40 degree weather after the sun went down. Pictures are slowly rolling in and I will pick a couple when I have time to resize them, nothing earthshaking so far pictorially. Meanwhile here is a video of the encore after set 3 on Saturday night. My hands were cold and stiff and sticking to the neck of the bass which was damp from the fog rolling in. Thought I would post this since these are two Dead songs that don't get played as often as some of the others, I thought Stu, Rob and Lisa knocked it out of the park on Attics of My Life. Weird vantage point but there was no video recording allowed, there may be a glimpse of the crown headstock of my Series II bass (which sounded amazing as it always does), I was in the back next to Jay, who you also can't see, and behind Mitch and the keyboard rig.

That sounds like time well-spent to me! I will give it a listen this evening on my sanity stroll through the neighborhood. ;)

Not sure what is up with that I copied the link from youtube before posting. When I click on the link here I get the same message but also an option to "watch on youtube", seems like you can't initiate playback though any website other than youtube.. Once I selected watch on youtube the video is still there. The solution seems to be select watch on youtube.

Last night my wife and I watched the four videos the same person posted on youtube through Roku so we could view and listen on our TV with the sound going to my stereo with Magnapan speakers.. I am consistently blown away about how good this Series II bass sounds through the PA. There is a solidness, purity, musicality, and articulation that IMO is the hallmark of Series electronics. I suspect part of the punch this bass achieves is the walnut top and the ebony neck laminate. This is also the first time I had it on a stage that was dark at times so it was great to have the LEDs even though for some reason they don't give me the same visual orientation of the neck that the inlays do. When we got to the end of Attics last night I was teary-eyed, not only because of the beautiful lyrics and vocal performance of this song but I was overjoyed hearing my bass sound so good.

Attics is one of my favorites. And not only is it a beautiful song overall, it's also a great Phil tune; and your playing and tone are spot on. Well done!

Thanks David, appreciate the kind words!

Got it to work, thanks! I was really surprised how well the bass sounded on my little computer speakers. Nice harmonies on Attics.
