That is a beautiful piece of wood there! But that strap button......ouch.

But that price…ouch!

It is pricey for a Distillate, or at least what we would have considered pricey a few years ago. It's in the UK and Jazzyvee mentioned that the prices of used Alembics overseas is higher, so that would be a factor also. Really special top on this one!

Never noticed before but, is that strap button in it’s regular spot?
Looks like it’s been moved to help neck balance.

That's a really nice Distillate. Is that Cocobolo or Bocate? Almost looks like an oil finish.
The strap button relocation is unfortunate, but easily undone. I'm sure it was an effort at better balance... the early Distillate 32" scale doesn't all that well.
I don't remember seeing one this old with the serial number stamped in the truss rod cover. I see it in the fingerboard where expected too, so maybe a trophy shop job?
Prettiest bass I've seen in a while. Classy. 8)

My strap button has been relocated and it does improve the balance.
Take a peak at the relocation in my Showcase link below. Didn’t bother filling the old hole, doesn’t effect the sound… and she won’t be sold.

Based on location and current pricing trends, I thought this was on the low side price-wise. I see people asking (not necessarily getting) more for Spoilers and Essences. Things seem to be coming down a bit in the past couple of months though.
