Title: (x) Hard to decipher but is this serial # correct? 82D2262 ?
Post by: LongLiveAlembic on June 05, 2022, 10:10:00 PM
1982 Distillate, I am original owner.  Was trying to post serial # on site but it's very worn.  82D2262, should have been sold at Guitar's Etc in Bellevue WA in 1982, to me, John Mahoney.  Sales person name was Kam.

Let me know if the records confirm this or if numbers are off.  It is definitely a Distillate Bass.  Thanks.  That's me playing the bass in the early 1990's.  Thanks, no big rush.  It's been 40 years after all.  Really cool web site here!

John

I took some pictures and used paint.net tools to enhance, almost positive it's 82D2262   USA .  Here are the pictures:

I'm happy to see that my bass isn't the only one with a S/N that isn't the easiest to read.

Yeah, especially when we stamped in the fingerboard like that, if they weren't wonky to begin with, they eventually become so. Please, everyone with a serial number stamped this way - write it in the electronics cavity or under a pickup for safekeeping!

Anyway, here's what I found in the instrument file:
serial number: 82D2262
model name: Distillate
model number: DMB4
top: Walnut
accent: none
body: Mahogany
neck: 5-piece Maple and Purpleheart
scale: 32" medium
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: Mother of pearl
pickups: Alembic AXY4
controls: "Distillate" volume, filter, 2-position Q-switch, bass cut/flat/boost, treble cut/flat/boost, 4-postiion rotary pickup selector, mono output
originally made for: not recorded
birthday: October 7, 1982
