I am in the process of removing the electronics to send to the Mothership to sort
out some issues. Under the neck pick up is a doodle/initials, a hand written
"Made in the USA" and a 4 digit number, 7052. Does anyone know what it
might be. It is somewhat close to the s/n 7854.
Thanks.

It was completed July 0, 1952?

The four-digit number is the order number. IIRC, the serial number is assigned on completion of the build. You may have seen some in-progress pictures with the spec sheet attached to the instrument.

Peter, ahhh, my birth year, no wait....
Actually, it is an early Epic from '93.
Adriaan, thanks, I forgot about the order number aspect. Unfortunately, I did not
purchase new, I found this used in a music store in western Massachusetts quite
awhile ago; it was more of a rescue on my part. I am finally trying to get it back in
playing/gigging condition after some mods the previous owner made to the electronics.

I have seen these numbers under the pickups in the past and wondered what that number was. Now I know. Thanks Adriaan.

#C14588 had a WO# of 15139... being the serial number geek-freak I am, this realization tied my brain in square knots, knowing my bass had ANOTHER NUMBER HIDDEN IN IT!!! ::)
Cool find on an early Epic. If I was to search for one, it'd have to be a '93. Just because.

New Alembic owner here; please forgive my ignorance, but could the number represent pickup resistance? Thanks!
Edit: I think the work order number makes more sense, looking at these pictures.

Thanks, Adriaan; I though that was the answer, but couldn't be sure - and Senior Management was summoning me, so I couldn't research it at that moment (but probably would have answered as I did any, because....well, I already explained that).
