Just in case you missed the new rezin topped SC bass at Northern Lights Music
-
The blue really pops! Especially on the headstock. Is the grain pattern on the back too tight for any resin there?
-
We generally don't use the Rezin laminates on the back. The way the blocks are made doesn't allow for successive slices so any backs would be from a different wood, and would looks really different. We've looked at it, and it just does better as a featured top only.
-
Wow, that's really something to see!
I'm curious Mica, it seems like these color infused tops are all buckeye... is this design influenced by physics? I guess you need something porous enough to accept the stuff under vacuum treatment? For instance, maple would be too dense, not porous enough...
-
This one is just a Rezin fill, and no dyes in the wood, so anything with voids would do well in this case. But yes, Buckeye is the most receptive to the dye. Elm and Poplar work well, but the Buckeye looks the best to my eye.
-
I know nothing about wood but i presume a slice of buckeye would be light, so does the infused resin make a significant difference to the weight?
-
Nice touch on the blue "Alembic" on the pickups.

I'm a fan! WOW! 8)

That’s nice, I like the ones that incorporate the natural wood :)
-
Northern Lights made a lovely video about this bass.

Quite gorgeous!! Sounds incredible, too… of course!

What a beauty. Reminiscent of Starry Night ❤️
