Title: Posting Pictures
Post by: Mike B. on February 12, 2022, 10:53:52 AM
Hi Gang!

Is there a simple way to post pictures from a smart phone? An inquiring mind wants to know....

The forum software doesn't let you add a snapshot straight from the camera, just use the picture button on the Editor screen to select the image from your phone's internal storage. However please keep in mind that there's a 1,000 kB file size limit, so you may need to use an image resizer.
Looking forward to some pics!

My antique Android automatically resizes pictures I text to myself. I rename, and save them to a download folder. Easily post-able from there.

Like so...

I never noticed before, Greg, but you bear a strong resemblance to a guy I am active in politics with around here.  Got any kin name of Luebke?

Naw, not that we know about. Can't say I ever heard that name before. Maybe it isn't unusual elsewhere? Almost all of my people are in Western North Carolina. ("Naw" was your first clue...)  ;)

I use an app called “Image Size”, makes it quick and easy.

Mike,

Start writing, then go to "Preview"...  Look below the message window for "+ Attachments and other options". Clicking that shows options which include "Attach:"  Click on "Choose File" there, find and select your pic, and click "Upload".  Noting the limit of 10 per post and each must be less than 1MB in size.  The name of the picture(s) should now appear under the word "Attach:"

The trick here is that "Preview" will not show your attachment(s), you just have to believe they are there.  It won't actually appear until you click "Post".

Give it a try!

Hit the “Reply” button under the last post in the thread.  That brings you to the screen in the photo below.  Hit “ “Attach “ and then “Choose File” and you can attach your files one at a time.  Jimmy mentioned 1MB size, but I think the limit is actually 150 KB.

And when my pix are too big to post, I copy-&-paste them into an e-mail them to myself, selecting the lower-res button.  I then save the e-mailed version, and that attaches fine.

Of course, that's in AOL; I don't know what other e-mails services do.

I get grief for my 29 year old AOL e-mail address.....I was so early, we didn't have to add numbers after our handle.

My Ma has the same phone number issued to us since 1955.

Edit: haha, it works just fine, it just doesn't show up in the preview or give any other indication the picture is attached.

Firefox on Linux, for the record.

Now to post this picture where it belongs.....
