Anyone ever put Elixir strings on an Alembic? If so, what were the results?

I put a set on one of my Excels. They have a nice sweet tone, and with their coating, they produce very little noise. They're great strings, but not my favorite. I think they're overpriced for what they deliver. Try a set, see what you think. You're the best judge.

I used them once on mine. After about 15 minutes the coating started to frizz and come off. I don't have a heavy touch and my frets are smooth. On the other hand, I've never seen another post anywhere where this has happend to others so my experience may be unique. (These were the original ones. Not the micro coated, or nano coated, or whatever its called. The newer coating may work better).

Hi James,
I didn't use them on my Alembic but I use them for some time now on my Fender Jazz-bass. It's how Rami said: sweet tone, they have lesser edge. They seem to last long and keep having that tone. On th other hand, I have very dry hands (seems to be a weird sentence here). I use the instrument and strings in the BIg-Band I play. I've not used them already for heavier work.
The problem Mark metioned didn't happen to me. Next time I think I'll try another set!
