Alembic Jazz Pickups - need input
I expect this has been already covered, but I wonder if the knowledgeable folks here can tell me what possible modifications you can do the the Alembic Jazz pickup setup?
-
If it has the proper preamp, it's probably VVF, you might change it to VBF, possibly adding a second preamp (the Pan Preamp kit). And you might want to add a Q switch (as it is, it's most likely to have the Q boost on all the time) and those come in a 2- or 3-way format.
If there's enough room in the cavity, you might change it for Signature or Anniversary.
Choices, choices ...

It has plenty of room and only one preamp.

So what's keeping you? ;D

I definitely consider the Q-switch to be a required mod (for myself) - otherwise it has a baked in +8 (I believe) - being able to have zero Q makes it much more versatile for me. (I have a PJ set & a P - the P doesn't have the mod but I want to get it done soon!)

I've built two basses with Alembic P-Bass PUs. I added the 3-way Q switch on both. It makes a HUGE difference!

Q switch sounds good. Anyone have a schematic?

Contact Mica. She can answer any questions and provide instructions. It's not too difficult.
