Hello guys,
I drove this morning from Brussels to Gent to buy my first (used) Alembic bass - it's a 2000 Essence with Europa electronics (00K12459). The sound is impressive.
Did some quick cleaning and polishing the bridge & tailpiece.
Needs some more work with cotton swaps.
I believe mahagony is the body base with a layer maple between the top wood (koa or rio rosewood). Neck is maple with mahagony stringers?
Cheers, Ulrich

Congratulations on your new bass. That europa/rogue electronics package is so flexible and easy to make quick tone changes live. I look forward to what you think when you take it on a gig.
-
Looks fantastic—congratulations!!! Always a great reason for a road trip, to pick up a new Alembic bass.
-
Congrats! That's a lovely top wood.
-
Beautiful bass, congratulations!

Ulrich,
Beauty of an instrument! I agree with the Mahogany and Maple woods, I am not sure about the top wood.
This instrument WILL make you very happy.
Paul (who doesn’t know much about wood except that Alembic bodies and necks generally follow the same recipe)

One of the best families to be a part of - welcome!

Somehow when I hear the "Alembic Family" I think of this bunch.....Enjoy.....

Nearly certain you have a lovely Walnut topped Essence bass.
-
by way of comparison, here's my walnut topped '93 fretless essence. the picture really doesn't do it justice. this bass is the freaking bomb btw...
-
Thanks a lot Mica and Beendown!
Interesting - it really looks valise to my Rio rosewood Nobby Meidel, and much lighter than my walnut HumanBase.
Thanks again for your feedback!
PS: the blue Spoiler is not off my radar 😉
