Hi everyone,
I have been asked by my business partner to make some new 5pin cables for his friend's Series 1. I got tasked with it because I've built far more cables than I care to recall, and have owned 5 Alembics in the past* including 3 Series. None of these ever had cable issues so I never had the need to look inside them.
So my question is, what cable do you suggest I actually use? There's no chance of him ordering one from Alembic as I'm going to do it for cost as I owe my partner a lot. I love being 'volunteered'.
I have the pin outs in my files somewhere.
Thanks for any help.
Cheers
* My first was a Distillate bought new in Pitt St, Sydney in 84 and my last S1 went to jazzyvee as we found out on TB recently; I post there as A9X. I think I had that as a username here at one stage, but can't seem to get into it.

For my Series cables, I use Canare Star quad. It has a great feel and is very flexible, and comes in different colors. For the connectors I used the Neutrik connectors with gold plated pins. I get it from Markertek. Here is a link to the cable:

Just be warned that when you assemble these, the internal wires on the cable are only 2 colors. You will need to use a meter to make sure you don't mix them up.

Thanks. The L4E6S was going to be what I made them with, but I thought I'd better double check first. I'm happy with that as I probably have a couple of spools total in different colours floating around the workshop and storeroom.
Thanks for the quick response.

Thanks Michael, I'm aware. At one point years ago I was terminating so much of this stuff during some broadcast studio mods, I almost dreamt about it.

I use the same stuff.
You can find the pin-out on the DS-5 schematic which you can find int he body of this post, http://alembic.com/club/messages/395/60881.html?1243677518 (http://alembic.com/club/messages/395/60881.html?1243677518)
