Title: fradulent listings popping up on ebay
Post by: BeenDown139 on November 12, 2021, 04:23:25 AM
got a new crop of fraudulent listings popping up all of a sudden on ebay.  sometimes they're pretty obvious:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/373788516111?hash=item5707881f0f:i:373788516111
https://www.ebay.com/itm/373788514383?hash=item570788184f:i:373788514383
https://www.ebay.com/itm/373788514346?hash=item570788182a:g:IMsAAOSwRlBhjY20

sometimes not:

anytime you see verbiage like this in a listing, run away!

The seller says the instruments are in New Orleans.    With me being in New Orleans too, perhaps I should contact the seller to see if I can view the basses in person.

Last time they had the same images, on lookalike pages that were listed on eBay, but were not actually on eBay. They invite you to click a link at the bottom of the page, which takes you off of eBay.

Same shtick about "pawn shop stock liquidation".

They're getting creative now with the word "ebay" in the URL. Beware!

Thr first three have been removed.  The fourth, the “sometimes not” listing, is still active.

That last one sure is a pretty piece of wood.

Might want to disable the link that goes to the .shop URL. Being a fake eBay address it has the potential to be a vector for malware.

Another one I’ve been wondering about.  I thought El8ed bought this one, but it is still posted on reverb.  Maybe the seller just forgot to take down the posting.

Looks like it has now been taken down and marked as listing ended, probably just forgot it was still there.
