Title: R.I.P. Ron Tutt
Post by: lbpesq on October 26, 2021, 04:27:31 PM
Ron Tutt, whose drumming included a long stint with Elvis as well as playing with Jerry in JGB (where I first became aware of him) has passed away at 83.

RIP. I was always fascinated by the double kick drum set he played with Elvis.

he was a monster on the drums.  check out his playing on the Elvis tv special concert from hawaii back in the 70's.  good matchup with Jerry Scheff  btw.

83 - too soon, but not a bad run for someone who hung with Jerry, Gram, and E............

Aww, man, that’s sad news. A great great drummer and Gram/Elvis/Emmylou alum. Saw him with Emmylou at the Palomino many years ago. Keep the beat, Ron.

Wow, the old Palomino Club in North Hollywood!  I haven't thought of that place in years.  I remember seeing Jerry Jeff Walker there in around 1974 or 1975.

It was a grand place. Saw Emmylou there several times, and Elvin Bishop, and Carlene Carter. All in 1979. It’s torn down now. I lived a few blocks away when I lived in LA.
