Title: My clone sleeps alone...or something like that.
Post by: BeenDown139 on October 20, 2021, 04:40:26 AM
this one made me do a double take as i was making the rounds early in the morning while preparing for another day of toil and tears in the electrical contracting salt mines:

i suppose it's cheap enough, if you're into this kind of thing.  i did a zoom on one of the pictures that looked kinda funny, didn't see any mention of this in the text.  are my ancient eyes deceiving me or is that the beginning of a headstock break?

<edit - actually they did mention it :

The all-too-common Headstock break is present, but was well repaired a long time ago. It is completely stable.

where have i heard that before? >

An interesting bit of the story that....... "According to Nick Grabien (Partner of Ron Armstrong who used to work at Alembic and was the owner of Stars Guitars) and a few other associates of Stars Guitars and Alembic, these Instruments were designed by former Alembic Employees working with Fernandes. So the attention to detail is really extremely accurate, since the people who oversaw their construction actually built the originals they are based on".
Is that a true story?

I remember way back when Alembic was a pipe dream for me.  There was a Series I at a music store (Cascio on National?) that had a ‘professionally repaired headstock crack’, you could barely see it.

The right to left hand conversion looks tacky. However, the build quality of these was quite good. Also, glue is stronger than wood and if the neck is fixed right, it should be fine.
