not to hijack the thread, but it's my thread so what the hey...

Oliver, i seem to remember many years back when that bass was up for sale that the string pairs on the 8-string bass were widely separated which made it more like 8 separate strings than 4 paired strings, making it difficult to play.  was that the case?  if so were you able to get it remedied?  just curious.

sorry for my late reply. 
If I remember well the fact was that the 8 string neck
was strung 4 string only back at that time and that possibly
made it look strange.
