I nearly choked when I saw the price. Ok it's mint, but jeez...
Milking the Gilmour angle. It's not like he used this particular unit or anything.

It has a 12AT7 instead of the stock 12AX7/7025. That would need to be corrected.

The verbiage looks familiar to me as I seem to recall another ad sometime back that tried to play up a nonexistent ownership connection to Dave Gilmour in an attempt to get more for the preamp than it was worth.

If you look at the list price of a new unit ($3800) and include the discounts one can get from dealers, its just about the same price or maybe even higher. One would REALLY need to be into vintage (a red rather than black knobs) to lay down that much cash for this unit. Now although that might make sense if you were talking about manufacturers whose quality of product has gone downhill over the years, that just isn't the case with Alembic where quality has been maintained (or improved). There is a exercise equipment company around here that sells used gear and their slogan is..."Why buy new when used with do?" in this case, I think that slogan needs to be turned around.

20% price drop. Now it's a real bargain. ;)
