Professionally, Barbara Eden, Barbara Jean Huffman, born Aug. 23rd, 1931. 90 years old today. She is the last surviving cast member of the iconic TV show that her best-known role as "Jeannie" is known from. Sharp and witty as ever. Happy Birthday Barbara, and thanks for the laughs. :D

I got to meet her back around 1983 - she was a special guest for a cancer support fundraiser I was helping organize. A really generous and very nice person. But SOOOOO much makeup!
-
Not to burst any bubbles Greg…..but she really didn’t live in a bottle! 8) ;D ;)
-
Sure she does... it's right here in my practice room! ;D
(keep reading... that piece of set met a tragic, unceremonious end... about like the show did. Can you just imagine what somebody would pay for that now?)
I really do have a Christmas 1964 Beam Special liquor decanter though. You can still find them every now and then, but usually the stoppers are broken. The autographed picture was in my roadcase, left from Comic-con in Nashville years ago. I finally had it framed.
Barbara will be 91 in a few weeks, and still kickin'.

You Go Barbara!
Larry Storch (Corporal Agarn on F Troop) rode off into the sunset this week at 99! Celebrate our childhood treasures while we can!

I must confess, I am currently having impure thoughts..........

And we also lost two iconic mobsters this week, Sonny Corleone (James Caan) and Paulie Walnuts (Tony Sirico).
Bill, tgo

Aw, man - I hadn't heard about Sirico. Bummer! I married into an Italian-American family, and we all loved that show; my favorite Paulie moment was when he & Christopher were lost in the woods, and every time it cut back to them, his always-perfect hair was a bit more frantic.

Man, I loved I Dream of Jeannie!

Ah, the foxy blonde with the missing belly button...

One of the funnier parts of her book details the NBC censors railing about the harem costume while completely disregarding the extras' bikinis on several Hawaiian episodes.
That autobiographical, by the way... an excellent read for anyone in any corner of the entertainment industry. Fantastic perspective from someone who saw it all. It may be out out print by now, as it's been a while. Jeannie, Out Of The Bottle.

I bought it last night off Apple Books to read on my iPhone.

Just checked my library; they have it! When I'm done isolating.......
