"Mud and tape by Willie The Snake" is written in pencil in the pickup cavity, pics by the best guitar guy around (doing a setup for me), Dave Domizi.
My adjustments weren't cutting it, had to go to the pro.
Hoping I can get some info on this bass. I love it, have an Acoustic 371 cab, getting the original Cerwin Vega reconed, can't wait to plug it all up and go.

Whoops. 2563, not 2568

I wonder who Willie is?

You've got an early Spoiler bass there. Here's what I found in researching this bass:
body: solid Koa
neck: 3-piece Maple
scale: 32" Medium
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: Pearloid (plastic) ovals
pickups: AXY4
controls: volume, filter, Q-switch, pickup selector switch, mono output
originally made for: Guitar Center, Santa Ana, CA
birthday: March 22, 1983
The original owner was in California
It was repaired in 2005 when it lived in Virginia. We reattached some loose wires, replaced the volume pot and output jack, then tidied all the wires with panduit ties. Don't know if it has the same case it did then, but it was described as "Odd shape, burgundy" at the time.

No idea about Willie - I don't think there's been a William other than my husband around here. I have a few ideas who *might* have written that, but there are often interesting messages under the pickups.

Thanks again for looking that up. The bass has just been a blast to play!!
