Title: '83 S1 back from mothership w. LEDs ....
Post by: BazzMomma on July 02, 2021, 06:51:28 PM
My '83 S1 just arrived back from Alembic today after having new fretmarkers and side LEDs installed, and a full refurb. BEAUTIFUL!! But I think I have a problem. Am I missing something?

Few questions:
1. The neck pickup seems to be dead. If I have the pick up selector far left, both volumes up, nothing. Next position, bridge volume up = sound (and some electrical noise), neck volume up = nothing; Next position (both?) = sound if bridge volume up, nothing if neck volume up; Next (last) position = nothing with both volumes up.
2.Is it a choice between batteries in the battery compartment OR the blue box?
3. It's been a while... so can someone refresh my memory? I'm using the bass output from the blue box into the amp, but the treble output also seems to work fine. Does it matter which?
4. AND: I have an insulin pump (Medtronic 770G). If I wear it on the front of my waistband, I'm picking up a 1 Hz beep (ie, 1/second). If I shift the pump to the back of my waistband, no beep. Any other Alembic CGM diabetics out there experience this? Obvious solution, of course, but for a while there I thought I was picking up a signal from a passing alien! (Oh... whoops... that's me!)  It's relatively low in volume, so I'm just asking out of curiosity.

BTW - the side LEDs are bliss.

Also - in case any other CGM diabetic pump users are reading this - you do need to move the pump to the back of your waistband, especially on the single coil pickups.

I get noise from my cellphone if it's in my front right pocket, where it usually lives. I'm hoping to avoid the pump, though.

Yeah, cellphones are constantly screaming "I'm heeeere!" electronically, so keep them away from your equipment if you can.
