if i wasn't 65 years old with a bad back and iffy shoulders and i still playing in public I'd probably be doing a money transfer right about now.

probably the only other thing giving me pause is the V headstock. much prefer a cone head, but sometimes ya can't be too picky. be interesting to see how long before somebody can't resist any longer 🏴☠️
-
That is a nice bass, has a hum cancelling pickup for looks, but as they state it’s a Signature (not Series), very cool bass.
-
Hmmmm....I agree, if it had a Cone Headstock I might be shaking the Piggy Bank!
I don't imagine anyone else has all Three versions..... ;)
-
It's one of those basses i don't need but would be a lovely indulgence, tho a 5 string would suit me better and i don't expect there is one.

How do you like the V head? I believe I read somewhere that it was heavier or hard to balance? Also, does yours have fret board led's or just side of neck. Lastly, are all of these 09's anniversary or do you have series electronics?
Thanks in advance - contemplating trading the Exploiter with cash for this one. Although I just gelled with the Exploiter and it is a chunk of change...

The V head is a beast! But then again, just putting on a Spyder, you're watching "everything" within banging range. Tuners are a bit of a reach but not really a problem. I've got a pretty big frame so bass weight / scale length is not an issue for me. I have Anniversary electronics in both...they are both stock side LEDs.
Regarding the trade......I'll quote Henry Royce (of Rolls-Royce) "The quality remains long after the price is forgotten." The Spyders are a beauty to behold! Its like holding Art.

still for sale.

here's throwing some fuel to the fire......A new Stock Spyder is $20,700.00! IF there any still available. ;) :D

Maybe I missed it, but I thought this wasn't a true Spyder - meaning it's not Series Electronics (I believe the dummy pickup is truly a fake dummy pickup). My question would be, what would it take to make it a real Spyder - then my interest would maybe be a little bit higher (or maybe not :))...
-
Russ,
indeed it is no exact JE Spyder replica.
If you want to go for an exact exact replica of JEs
many Spyders you have to have lying 50K around.
Well, saving time.

....approaching the event horizon....somebody slap some sense into me!

Well that takes me out of the desire category and back into "that's a neat bass" feeling... Plus, I have a pretty nice Essence with Series electronics being built that will suffice - just have to have patience :)
-
Russ,
well I thought again in having a new project as an
exact JE Spyder is my alltime dream.
But after seeing the latest price indication I must
simply part with that and buy a „normal“ Alembic instead.

The good thing is, there's nothing normal about any of their basses - they're all pretty freaking special if you ask me!

Absolutely!

Well, it actually IS a real Spyder. Not a true clone of JAE's, but one of the 50 reissues, or I guess technically "tribute" 4 strings they made. I believe there were 25 8 strings as well. These came with Anniversary electronics. Somebody must have ordered this one with the thought of converting to Series electronics, or they just wanted the look.

It's your fault - I figured it's pretty close to a once in a lifetime and ended up trading the Exploiter with some cash on top... Now, I wait... 8)

True. Now the waiting game - can't play a tracking number 8)
Alembic is something special for sure- I actually feel bad now for trading the Exploiter. Crazy as it sounds, we just figured each other out and will miss her... I will have to pick up a spoiler again some day. Love that tone...

couldn't pull the funds together fast enough but now they're in place for the next one that pops up. or maybe something else just as cool.
patience, patience 😎
-
Been wanting one of these since 2003 when I played one in Guitar Showcase in San Jose. Patience paid off and the timing was finally right. Jesse at Ish Guitars worked with me on the Exploiter trade since I bought it from him a few months ago and it is in great condition. With 7 offers prior to me calling, surprised it did not move quicker. Anyways, keep looking and be ready - yours will surface sooner than later...

Happy Daze! :P
