Several days ago I bought a nice used Rickenbacker 4003 bass from Guitar Center's online website for used gear from their Scottsdale AZ store. I placed my order, my Guitar Center account showed I bought it (still does) , then I got an email confirmation from them that I bought it. Bought it Sat and called them Monday and talked to the store and got the bass serial number from the salesman. A couple days later I call to check if it had been shipped and was told it was shipped out to someone else who bought it.
I then contacted a GC rep online and was told "the item might by sold by others" or "the website having a glitched". No apology or anything. I was not charged for it, but I was lead to certainly understand I had bought it from them.
After my excitement about this nice bass, this was extremely frustrating, and if you buy stuff from Guitar Center like I do, then beware this can happen. You would think that a company that just entered chapter 11 would wise up and fix things like this.

Speaking as a former employee, all I can is, I avoid GC like the plague. This is entirely in character for them.

I've scored some great things from GC, but I always assume it's never going to happen until it shows up at my door.
