The Times They Are A Changin

I was having a conversation between sets the other night with Gabe, (our guitar player) he had recently read a story about one time Bob Dylan had expressed an interest in joining the Grateful Dead. Not sure when this was... I know they did tour some together. Anyway, it wasn't to be, there was one dissenting vote; Phil Lesh.
Happy Birthday to Mr. Dylan... definitely 'Served Somebody'.

A while ago pre COVID, I was driving a group of my grad students to do some data collection and we traveled past a building where Bob Dylan purportedly lived when he spent his short tenure at the University of Minnesota where I teach. I pointed out that a famous person named Robert Zimmerman had lived in the building and they responded, “who?” I then corrected myself and informed them I was referring to Bob Dylan and once again they replied, “Who is that person?”

9th grade Latin.
I thought it would be easy - just add “us” to everything.
“Butterflyus Americanus”.
Boy, was I mistaken!

I never got past "Brittania est un magna insula". But that's enough to start a conversation.
For me it's impossible to pick any single Dylan tune. But this one has my heart...

I passed 9th grade Latin with a D- only because I was able to charm the college girl they brought in to finish the semester after the little old lady who'd been teaching it since it was a new language dropped dead in front of the class one day.......
Peter (who fared no better in 10th grade Spanish)

“Blood On The Tracks” is on my desert island list.

Well, it's not like there's a shortage of choices, but if I had to pick one Dylan song, I'd have say "Knocking On Heaven's Door".
Peter (who does it with the 3rd verse, which he has heard only on the Garcia-Grisman-Rice version)
