Title: First Time/Long Time
Post by: sharkwagon on May 18, 2021, 12:54:10 PM
Howdy everybody! I'm Bryan in Dallas TX (Frisco).  Been on this forum a few years, been dreaming of an Alembic since about 1988.   Love this group which I think is the most constructive and positive forum I have been a part of.

Finally was able to sell an amazing 1979 Ibanez Musician MC-940DS fretless I bought a few years ago which allowed me to pick up an even more amazing 1995 Epic 5.  Have a Peavey TL-5 also and a Trace Elliot 1210/1518 setup.

Hats off to Alembic and Mica who really seem to care about craftsmanship and the important piece of history they represent (the birth of active electronics, the boutique bass, the wall of sound, Bear and Bob Thomas, the Dead recordings, the big brown bass and orange Osage, Clarke, Entwistle, McVie etc etc etc).  Also even though I am very very very remotely and tangentially connected to that Alembic history - I swear I can feel the DNA at my fingertips when I play my Epic.

Thanks for letting me in the club!

Hi, and welcome to the club.  Those Ibanez Musicians were sweet - I have an MC 400 guitar, but it certainly wasn't an Alembic!    Enjoy your Epic, but be warned - Alembics are habit-forming.  lol.

I was lucky on the Ibanez in that it was one of the only times I ever bought low and sold high... things usually work the other way for me   :o

Hey Bryan,

Congrats on the new axe.  It really is a treat to be able to appreciate the time and effort that went into the design and build of these instruments.  Happens every time I pick it up too.
