Title: Finish question
Post by: Wade Handy (oujeebass) on November 06, 2002, 08:38:03 PM
I have some really glossy spots on my Epic. I have been using Alembic polish since I got it. They are where my fingers strike the strings, and then hit the top. Is there a way to remove this without damaging the wood.

I will learn to live with it.

What you are noticing is the gradual buffing of the playing areas from your hand. The polyurethane finish is very thin on an Epic, and it's risky to sand it further.

You can sand all the finish off and either repaint or switch over to an oil finish.

Thanks for your help Mica, I was wondering if this can be attributed to the use of polishes. Is there a safe way to remove wax build up with a product on this finish?
