Title: Had a cool (11 degrees) photo session with my three best Alembics. brrrrrr
Post by: jazzyvee on March 21, 2021, 01:05:08 PM
There is one of the three, the other two will follow. I'm coming to the end of another year with a zero so I wanted to get some pics with my fave instruments before that end arrives.

Nice - a Dragon hand-warmer.  ;D

Just so we're clear on this temperature measurement... you mean 11° C, right?  I could live with 52° photo-ops, but I ain't smilin' at 11° F, nosiree.  :o

Not that I don't trust your balance but I kinda hope that was photoshopped. A bit precarious, wouldn't ya say?

I'd need to agree with DaveD here.  You either have: (1) an extremely well-developed sense of balance; (2) a lot more cash to buy additional Alembics than I do; (3) a much greater acceptance of taking a risk than I am willing to at this stage of my life, or (4) a really nice photoshopped photo.

hahaha, no guys no trickery involved it was balanced on the point of the crown and the photographer used the motordrive on her Nikon SLR. It was only balanced for about 10 seconds and you can see my other hand poised to catch. I did consider trying it with my classico but maybe it was a good omen that the camera battery went flat just as i was about to adjust the peg. Maybe the mothership connection intervened.
Also , i think if i dropped that guitar Bill tgo, would press charges and have me extradited to stand trial, on the other hand that may be preferable to facing the wrath of the mothership team as i brought it back for repair. 😂

Never let it be said that the small body does not balance well. ;D ;)

Here are my other two alembics.
I think we make a good team.

Jazzy, PLEASE be careful with our guitar!   Honestly, I'd be more impressed to see you try the upside down balancing act with the Classico!

hehehehe

I've been playing the Dragon a lot over the past 3 weeks in prep for a series of theatre gigs this weekend. It's still fighting me but sounding great. At the moment i'm in the middle of a lot of home improvements and this room is where the builders keep their stuff and the only room with enough empty space to set up a practice area. I popped out yesterday and bought a basic reverb pedal so that I could use the alembic rack for the gig. Everything is sounding fine  and whilst the rat pedal does not sound great with that guitar, i've managed to find a really warm tone on it which I only need to use on a few sections on a couple of songs.

Since two volumes and filters are more challenging for me, I have the guitar tones set so that I just need to operate the Q-switches for any change of guitar sounds rather than try to use the filter controls and a volume pedal to control my volume.

Apart from that and excluding my current 3 gigs this weekend, just this afternoon i've been offered 11 festival bass gigs up to the end of August with Bob Marley & UB40 tribute bands !!!.
Seems like another door has opened for me. :-)
