Hello I have an F2B s/n 356 and I need to change out channel A's volume pot. I have exercised it many times and it is not coming good. I am a Hammond organ tech so am familiar with the care of the rest of the tube circuit.
What I wanted to ask is how to get hold of Mica or somebody else who could sell me a replacement pot. I have used the email address that I used a few years ago when I bought a 240V transformer for the preamp. Are the company closed due to the pandemic.
Many thanks in advance
Dave

They are still there, though they did move just before the pandemic hit. I would just call them. The number is under “Contact Us” on the main site. And welcome to the forum!

A phone call between the hours of 11AM and 4PM PST is usually the best way to to contact them.

Thanks. I’m in the UK so I’ll have to arrange international calling with my phone provider.

Alternatively you could go here:

and recognize that there is a small 'envelope' under Mica's picture.
Click on it and you can e-mail her.

Or Steam locomotives :)

Not sure whether I'm missing a joke, but the obvious reference for the "drawbar" is "I am a Hammond organ tech".

in my world view, it's the big lump of metal joining a steam locomotive to it's Tender.

A place where artists go to get drunk?

Yes you're right. It's Hammond organs; drawbardave.co.uk

It so happened that 2 weeks ago our Sharp Mill’s drawbar needed to be refurbished.

Obviously the term is diverse and multi-functional! :D
I do love the sound of a B3.

Does anyone know who supplies the volume pots? I’m losing the will to live waiting for a response.

Hi DrawbarDave, have you tried calling Alembic? 707.523.2611

Hey Dave,
I am not sure of the exact part number or manufacturer but believe it is a stock 1M ohm rotary which you should be able to easily source. For instance, here's a few:
https://uk.farnell.com/c/passive-components/potentiometers-trimmers-accessories/rotary-potentiometers?track-resistance=1mohm (https://uk.farnell.com/c/passive-components/potentiometers-trimmers-accessories/rotary-potentiometers?track-resistance=1mohm)
The question to is, has the pot really failed or is there something else happening like some voltage across the pot that shouldn't be there? You could in the meantime, try swapping the tubes between channels to be sure the problem doesn't follow (wouldn't think it would), or even swapping the volume pots between channels to be sure it is that specific pot. Or simply replace it with a new 1M pot and see what happens.
One way or another, I think with your skills you should be able to make the "field repair" without needing to source that component from Alembic. You can do it!

Dave I sent you an invoice and a separate email. Have you checked your spam folders? I will resend...

Also one of the pieces of information I needed to ship your part was your mailing address. I've carefully looked through our emails and see no sign, and I don't see any replies in spam - do you always use the same email address? I have an invoice for someone with your same name, but a different email address is why I ask.
