I have a real sweet 4-string 85 Spoiler with a mahogany body & zebrawood top. It’s in great condition for a 35 year old bass.
The only issue it has is the volume knob will turn past max volume. Including great condition OHSC.
I hesitate to give her up, but I have too many basses and short scale is not suited to my large frame.
Asking $2600 shipped to the lower 48. Can ship worldwide at buyers additional expense. I’m in Seattle, WA area if someone might want a discount for local pickup. I’ll post some more pictures soon.
Thanks,
JayT

Hello Sir!
That's a dandy Spoiler you have there! FYI - like most Spoilers this appears to be medium scale (32"). Short scale typically means 30.75" in Alembic land.
When you say the volume knob won't go past max volume, does that mean it is fixed in its utmost clockwise position and will not turn counterclockwise?

No the volume can turn past max, instead of a hard stop (almost as if it were like a detention) then it start again at low if you turn past it. Perhaps it’s just a knob or pot adjustment. I haven’t tried to mess with it as it functions ok.
Yeah, medium scale.
Thanks

Gotcha. The filter knob on my Elan 6 has the same issue and I've never bothered to get it fixed. Your price is certainly in the ballpark and Spoilers continue to move with ease. Zebrawood is well-represented in my collection, otherwise I'd be tempted. GLWS!

The pots have an internal plastic stop that can break off, then they will still work but can spin around and around.

What a nice Spoiler! Just love those older Alembics in Zebrawood. Good luck with your sale.

I'm interested :)
Is it still available? I'd love to see some more pictures of the back of the neck and headstock.

Yeah, I guess it is , I been on and off the fence about selling it. I’d be interested in trading for a Series 1, but that don’t seem like it’ll happen. Here’s some more images of it.
Thanks,

Hi there is your bass still available?
-
No, sorry. I came to my senses; this bass is too good to let go.
If anything I might trade for a series one.
Thanks
