Title: R.I.P. Bunny Wailer
Post by: StephenR on March 02, 2021, 08:38:10 AM
Very sad to hear that Bunny Wailer has left the planet at the all-too-young age of 73. Love Bunny's work with, and without, the Wailers. One big regret is that I didn't find out about his show at the tiny Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley a few years back until after it happened. Another legend moves on...

That is a HUGE loss to me being a lifelong wailers fan and the band who were the primary driver for me to want to become a musician, and ultimately a bass player. He is also the only one of the three that I never got to see perform live.  R.I.P JAH Bunny

Love Bunny, especially "Bunny Wailer Sings The Wailers". Like Jazzy, he's the only one of the original Wailers I never got to see live.

My wife mentioned to me two days ago that she has been enjoying listening to my Bunny Wailer Sings the Wailers CDs in her car. Bunny has always been my favorite Wailer. Back in the early 80s when I lived on Long Island I used to make bi-weekly trips to V.P. Records on Jamaica Ave in Queens. VP was a US distributor for the Jamaican labels. I have lots of Jamaican pressings of classic 70s and 80s Reggae from there and always would look for 7" and 12" singles and LPs by Bunny. As far as I know he rarely toured outside of Jamaica. I missed him at Madison Square Garden in the 80s since I was gigging but finally got to see him once in the mid-90s at the Berkeley Community Theater. He is the only member of the Wailers that I got to see live. Just love the spiritual quality of his music... I know what is on my playlist tonight. My favorite Bunny tune may be the 12" version of Rise and Shine, I have listened to it countless times.
