Hi Guys,
some time ago I had posted some photos of an 8string Spyder Bass one owned
by John Entwistle with a macassar top and graphite neck.
Those photos are still in the showcase thread.
I knew that this bass was owned by Mr Wilfer of Warwick as he had tried
to build this bass up as some parts were missing.
I am not sure but I remember having received some messages back
then rgdg missing parts; I think Mica had asked me back then, but I am
Not sure anymore.
I had contacted Mr Wilfer some times in the past asking to sell the bass to
me but he refused.
Now this bass has popped up again in Germany as it was sold
by Thomann Music at a price below 10 K.
AND I MISSED IT!!
Well I am happy that I could chat with the now new owner
of the bass and he gave me a few actual photos which
I want to share with you.
All photos are taken by HH and under his copyrights.
I hope it is ok to post them here for the Alembic family.
What do you say guys?

Oliver, can you say something about those lower horn controls?

Oliver, can you say something about those lower horn controls?
Yes, interested in the electronics in this beast. Bet it sounds like thunder!
-
The guy who owns it now has posted it on facebook with some videos. Let me see if I can find them.
-
Mario,
the lower horn electronics are the same as kn John‘s other cone head Spyders.
The PU selector (here on this bass of course with a wrong knob placed by Warwick)
and two master volumes and a miniswitch to quickly switch between two
volume settings live.

I feel for you Spyderman!
-
Thank you!!
Well today I also learned that this bass was shown to german Alembic distributor
Station Music and Lothar also unfortunately hadn’t noticed the true background and
historical importance of that bass.
Well that is life!

Thanks for posting the pictures, Oliver, beautiful bass! Do you know what the neck wood is?
-
That's not wood. It is a graphite necked bass.
-
Ah, thanks Dela, I missed that. :)

Any video of John playing it. Would love to hear what it is capable of.
Less than $10K. :o
-
Hey UglyBuzz,
to my knowledge there are no videos existing with John
playing the bass.
The bass was sold by John at a very early stage.
Sorry.
