I saw this early today and emailed them to wait and contact Alembic to find out what it is.
Looks a lot like a Ferbic.

I noticed it’s referred to as a Phil Jones Bass. Did Phil Jones also at one time work for Alembic. Though I thought he was from the U.K. I wouldn’t be surprised given the other luminaries in guitar and bass design who worked there.

I wonder if it had the head break and the owner had it repaired locally. The strange tuning key layout could be explained by the local guy "improving" it.

Phil's an independent designer / builder who was at Gibson when I was there in the early 90's, and I'd guess this is one more one-off those kinds of guys build.
