Title: R.I.P. Hank Aaron
Post by: lbpesq on January 22, 2021, 10:06:03 AM
One of the greatest of all time!   His fame cuts across all boundaries.  His physical artistry was a beauty to behold and, for a musical connection, he was the namesake of M.C. Hammer.

Hammerin’ Hank.

Hammerin' Hank holds the record for Most Home Runs, Career (Non-Chemically-Altered) - and I suspect always will.

I recall when he had one to go tie, and one for the record; they had a series in Chicago, and wanted to sit him so he could do it in front of the home fans; then-Commissioner Bowie Kuhn said they to play him.  The Tribune - that's the CHICAGO Tribune, mind you - ran an editorial cartoon: it said "A Game Of Giants", with fairly realistic - and quite heroic - drawings of Mr. Aaron & The Bambino in mid-swing.  Then, at the bottom, "(And midgets)", with a little cartoon-classic-Bonaparte-delusional drawing of Bowie.
