Title: That other wall of sound

Legendary producer & murder Phil Spector passed away Jan 16 at age 81; the officially-released cause of death was "natural causes", but he had recently been suffering with the 'vid.

Definitely an icon of 60s rock.   He lost me when he pulled a gun on John Lennon.   Crazy genius.

Crazy genius for sure. The gun was there for the Ramones, too.  As well as the murder, I assume...

how do you think that pulling out a gun is helping the creative process?

I could not find the issue it was in to remember the name, but _Vintage Guitar_ recently had an article about a Guitarist whose name most of us here would recognize; he was a hunter & firearms enthusiast - and, like most such, a fanatic about gun safety.  He was working a Spector session when Phil started waving his piece around, and accidentally put one into the ceiling.  He walked off he date mid-session & refused to ever work with Spector again.  Every one told him he had just ended his career; this was not, I'm glad to report, the case.
It's a shame more people didn't follow his lead.
