Sweet!

Could you explain the electronics?

It has 20th Anniversary electronics, so:

1. Volume, low pass filter, 3-position Q-switch for each pickup
2. Four-position pickup selector (including mute)
3. Master volume
4. Mono-stereo switch for 1/4” side jack (for powering with batteries)
5. Five-pin out allows for use with a DS-5 (which I normally use so I don’t have to worry about batteries)
      - this allows for stereo or mono out and direct power

Nice! I think the five-pin connector was throwing me off!

I had my 5-string Stanley upgraded to Anniversary, but without the master volume - I can see how that would be really useful.

Yes, the master volume is handy, just set the mix with all of the other controls, and then modify the volume with just one knob when needed :)

Added custom ebony and gold knobs...Poornigel got me started on those  :)

I've upgraded my 4 string Stanley to Anniversary recently without master volume.

I like what was done with this bass as well as the choices that were made to arrive at the result .

Thanks, Mario and Sonicus (and the good people of Alembic!), it looks and sounds very cool!

And Jazzyvee, I love the Anniversary electronics   :)

I have no doubt they will be a good upgrade and yes, your bass looks superb. White pickups on my black Europa would probably look great. :-)

This bass looks, and I think I can assume, sounds exceptional. If I could find a decently priced vintage Starfire I think I’d do exactly what you did to it. And the white PUs look outstanding.

Well, the cream colored pickups look great, but these Fatboys sound fantastic…thanks, Greg!  :)

Looks great, and I'll bet sounds sweet too. Those Fatboys are special.

Just to illustrate how the circle works here... Bryant is getting the Alembic activators I had intended for my Starfire project, Rob got the Fatboys from a Distillate I am selling, and sent me set of Novak Darkstars for the Starfire bass I gifted to the kid who runs sound and fills-in on banjo with us sometimes. It all happened in these threads. Basically neutral deal. Just keepin' it movin', makin' music.  :)

One of these days, we're going to have to get our basses together!

Mica,

Would you happen to know what the back thing labeled 21 21 in the attached photo is for? Everything is working fine, just wondering what that is.

Thanks,
Rob

It's a capacitor needed for the 5-pin wiring.
