Hi, welcome, interesting looking carving on your bass. Sometimes the serial number is stamped on the lip of the electronics cavity that the cover rests on.
Otherwise it would likely have been on the end of the fretboard or on the missing truss rod cover. Or, if it was a shop night bass it would not have a serial number.

I don't have any emails from the address you have posted here, but I'm always glad to help. This bass would have had the serial number stamped in the Ebony fingerboard below the 24th fret. It looks to me that it was purposefully removed during the extensive modifications this bass underwent. I'm afraid we'll be unlikely to identify this bass.
It's probably started out as a 32" medium scale Spoiler with a 3-piece Maple neck, Ebony fingerboard, and solid Koa body. I'm concerned the electronics are not original as we don't offer any concentric controls, and the control pattern is not typical - and ALL Spoiler basses from this time had the same specifications. Can we see under the hood?
I saw this bass on the Club before. Wasn't it on ebay recently? I'll dig around here and see if we came to any conclusions about it.

Here was the thread we had running on that bass... I wondered if we might see it again.

Mica mentioned that she would like to see pictures of the inside of the electronics cavity and more pictures are always welcome here in general. Hope you are enjoying the bass.

I’m not sure what is under the black rectangle, but from the photos those do not look like Alembic electronics.

The missing serial number is troubling to me.
I bet if it was refinished the carving would really look sharp.

After seeing Andy's playing you could argue he wore it down to the core,
(though I see a saw mark... if wood could talk :D )
