Since I already startet my history-request here in the club, it is time to say hello to everybody and tell a bit of myself.
I'm Thomas from Germany, 46 years old, married and have one daughter age 12.... and I play bass since the mid 90`th.
I owned already many different basses and at the moment I've got a Boulder Creek acoustic, a Squier Mustang, a Gibson EB-3 (1975),
a Rickenbacker 4003, a Epiphone Jack Casady Signature and my "new" Alembic Essence.
I'm always searching for my "holy grail" bass....maybe it will be the Alembic......
The first time I was playing the bass was in a RocknRoll band called "The Foggy Mountain Rockers" back in 1994, where I startet as the saxophon-Player, but then the bass-man quit...I grabbed the bass....learnt how to play....and became the bass-man.....then 1998 I quit the band and startet playing the bass in a Irish-folk band, and finally in 1999 the the last three former members of that irish band established the bank "mr.bones.......and we still exist :-)

By the way......Alembic basses are built in Santa Rosa, CA ......in 1991 I lived a couple of month in Santa Rosa as a Exchange Student and went to the Santa Rosa High School.........I loved that town :-)

Welcome to the club Thomas, its' good to have more people here who have found alembic basses.  It would be good to see some pictures of your alembic and  maybe tell us what you think of it's sound.
In case you didn't know alembic have recently moved from Santa Rosa this year to a new place in Rohnert Park, CA and still making great instruments.

Welcome, Thomas.

Many here have a variety of basses, looking for their "holy grail'. Some of us have found that isn't one single bass. Maybe there are nuances in a couple of different makers. And maybe there are nuances in different versions of Alembics (it's hard to have only one). And maybe having several from chosen lines is the 'sweet spot'.

Whatever describes you, you have like minds here. But you should start saving for your next Alembic purchase. It's inevitable.

Welcome to the club! The Alembic tone takes a bit of time adjustment, but you will undoubtedly become addicted. I also have an older Essence from 1991. My favorite bass.

Hi, Thomas, and welcome to the finest little corner of the internet.   Very pretty bass.  Do you know what type of wood the top is?   I’m thinking maybe Shedua or Bubinga?
