I get a "Trivia Question Of The Day" in my e-mail (twice a day, actually), and it just asked me who had the most-streamed song on Spotify.
The choices were Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, and Adriana Grande.
I am proud to say I didn't know..........

And the followup trivia question:
How much money did the Artist make? $0.03, $0.30, $3.00 or $30.00?

That one I could probably guess; when figuring artist's pay, always look for number with the decimal farthest to the left, alas.

"I used to be with it! Then they changed what it is, and what I was with wasn't it, and what was it was weird and scary. It'll happen to you!"

I posted this on Talkbass the other day, in a tangential thread.
"I can't remember who it was I heard say this, but it was during my time in Nashville, trying to make it as a bassist. The Musicians, they said, are at the bottom of the economic food chain. Eventually, I figured out what that meant."
I've thought about it since then, and I'm pretty sure it was either my benevolent boss at Nashville Custom Case, or an acquaintance of our booking agent I happened to know, socially. It bugs the livng daylights out of me that I can't remember which, but it was one or the other of them. And hey, if you can narrow an offhand comment down to two folks after 25 years... <shrug> ::)

"I used to rock and roll all night and party ev-er-y day. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can find one night a month in which to get funky."

For the times they are a changing...
the one thing that never changes is how musicians are treated.
Welcome to the machine.

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."

It makes me grin a little every morning. :D
That was left to me by our Chief Electrician, an old friend who reached his 30-year pin and retired last Fall... it used to hang outside his office. He also left me a coffee-maker and a microwave, and just enough wits and toughness to make it to my 30-year finish line.

I wasn't sure if anyone would get it. Goes to prove we have some sharp (though often a little twisted) minds around here! lol
