Title: Want your own personal 'Wall Of Sound"?
Post by: gtrguy on June 29, 2020, 08:19:32 PM
If 1 is good and 2 is better, than 13 must be just right! I just happened to see this ad and was kinda impressed.

Wow..that's crazy (why is my back hurting all of a sudden?)

Here's  some remnants from my late friends accumulations...4560's etc.
(basically free)

You know your back is in trouble when you’re talking about speaker cab tonnage rather than pounds or kilos.

I love those old EV MT systems. Classic 80s concert sound. I still occasionally run across some of that stuff on the club and fest circuit.

There's a guy in the local Craigslist with a freakin' garage FULL of those old tuck-n-roll sparkle-covered Kustom amps... bass, guitar, PA sets. And I think every time I see that 2x15 in blue sparkle... that little voice gets louder- do it man, DO IT! Then I remember - Greg, you dumbass, you can hardly heft the Mesa DragAbout/Scout 15 you got into the car, if you did have a gig to go play.  ::)  Still... that blue sparkle Kustom 2x15... Yeah, I could own that look.  8)

I used to have a Kustom 200 and 3X15 amp as a teenager. One day mom was baking a cake and went out while it was in the oven. I cranked that puppy up loud for a bit. When she came back and opened the oven up the cake had collapsed. Talk about death metal!

I went to Sam Ash around 1968 because I wanted to buy a Marshall guitar amp. The model I was considering was a 50 watt head with a 6x10 cabinet. The person helping me at the store was insistent that I would be better off if I bought one of the big Kustom roll and tuck amps since in his words the Marshall was a "one-trick pony". Thankfully I ignored his advice, the Marshall kicked butt and IMO was a way better sounding guitar amp than any of the Kustoms I heard around that time.

Now if Sam Ash had tried to sell me the Kustom organ...

Musicians playing with their backs to the crowd! Doesn't get any more old school than that! Imagine Taylor Swift doing that...
That is a cool looking organ.

Love Bobby’s highwater bells.  Well on his way to capri pants land!

Bill and me must have had the same fashion twitch... all I could think of was- Man Phil, those are some wicked pants...   ;D

(they would definitely go well with my blue-sparkle roll-n-tuck 2x15 Kustom)

You should have seen what I was wearing circa 1971.... or maybe it’s better there are no pics.  Remember Elephant Bellbottoms?

This is from the Denver Be-In. A pretty casual affair, to say the least.

Here's another partial shot of the organ.

Yes I do and regretfully there are some pictures floating around with me wearing them.
