This one has the hallmarks of a good dorking- https://www.ebay.com/itm/324184241715
We've seen this one before too, and I'll find the thread in a minute. It's #88-4847. a burled walnut Series I with a jack repair. Be very, very careful if you are bidding.

Bingo- it was in France. http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=25224.0
Now shipping from San Jose, CA. Auction closes in 23 hours. I smell something burning.

Buyer Beware--for sure. This seller is offering the same 2800.00 buy it now price for all his items--which are all high dollar luxury items luggage, watches, bikes, etc... Almost like items are from a theft ring. Oh, and that 1/4 inch jack makes my head hurt. I see that the seller and item have disappeared just now.

The eBay link in the first post no longer finds an ad, and there is no current listing. Thanks for the heads-up!

Another foul... Spyder this time. Y'all be careful, different seller, same scam.

These scams have been going on there on ebay for many many years.
It’s pretty obvious that they are fraudulent.

This bogus seller/bot is prolific. Hung up on the 2800.00 BIN again. Has good taste in basses.

almost as bad as these jokers:

currently listed at least 7 different times with a multitude of different prices. i wouldn't touch anything listed from japan with a 10 foot pole. no wonder reverb's eating ebays lunch on musical instrument sales.

It seems there are a bunch of people in Japan who visit guitar stores, take pics of interesting guitars, and then post them on eBay. If someone buys them on eBay, the “seller” then buys it from the shop to flip it to the eBay buyer for a profit. As a result we see several different listings for the same instrument from different sellers for different prices.

The eBay ad for the Spyder appears to have been taken down as well.

If you see anything listed from Japan, always make sure to check the same product on digimart.com. The same item is always there and sold from the store directly at a significantly lower price and tax free.

That’s exactly what happened with mine. It was listed on eBay by numerous sellers, and was on display in a store in “Guitar Alley” somewhere in Tokyo. One seller even went into the store and took additional pictures and emailed them to me.
-
“MSB 4” on eBay in Tokyo. You all probably saw it as well. I don’t even know what an MSB is. Looks early. Apparently, as with my S1, one or more Japanese Collectors bought several as investments and are turning them over.
-
MSB = Medium Scale Bass
