Title: Re-Introduction and new Alembic bass
Post by: B2sc on May 31, 2020, 11:13:54 AM
Hello, my name is Brian I want to re-introduce myself to this group. I had owned an Epic 4 back around 2013 and believe I had registered and contributed to this site but can’t find any record of my previous credentials anywhere. I no longer own that Epic for one reason or another but remember that these Alembics are in a sonic class by themselves and I’ve always been drawn to their hi-fi sound.

I’ve been playing bass, guitars and keys over the past 40+ years. Bass has always been my primary instrument and even after playing these other instruments in working bands, I always come back to playing bass. I find myself my most creative with a 4 string.

Anyway, I had no intention of buying an Alembic recently but came across this 2007 lacewood topped Essence and was immediately drawn to it by its unique appearance and custom features. It had many of my favorite features including neck through construction, 34” scale, active electronics and a smaller body shape   Some of these upgrades include:

Crown headstock
Oval inlays
Brass sustain block under the bridge
Bird tailpiece
Epic/Orion/Elan electronics (no filter but separate bass and treble)
Factory Red LED side markers

This one was truly unique in my eyes and knowing the sonic and build quality of these, purchased it happily rejoining the Alembic fold.  It’s definitely been played in its 17 years and has a few bumps and bruises to prove so.  It definitely was not a case queen.

It’s missing several screws and their inserts so I’ll reach out to the folks here at Alembic to source these to restore this beauty.  I’ve been around long enough to realize you shouldn't get rid of the special instruments you own. This one is a keeper.

Nice purchase.  That is some very interesting leopard looking Lacewood you've got there.  Welcome back!
