Any other info?

I think it's 1976 - but the pictures of me when I was 5 are on another page. I'll try and dig it up.

Would love to see the complete publication.
Cheers,
David

Mica , I was going to guess and write approximately 1975 or so , however I refrained from doing so to wait for you to chime in. I hope that you are all staying safe & healthy :) !

That looks like the neck that eventually became AC 76-405, the Will Gunn Series II Custom. http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=8285.0 Might be a clue to a timeframe when that photo was taken.

Ed, i recall Nick putting that bass up for sale not too long ago. I took the opportunity to play it when i visited the 2012 Alembic Gathering.
Here it is meeting my series II, watched over by a Skylark at Bill tgo’s previous home. :-) http://club.alembic.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=24386.0;attach=7246;image (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=24386.0;attach=7246;image)

I played that instrument as well . I remember the experience in detail . I played it when Nick came for a visit and we had a Mini - Gathering at Bill's .

He did indeed part with that bass this past year... a friend of a Club Member here bought it, and reportedly enjoys it very much. I pondered it myself, but opted to wait for another that felt more right. Will's recollection is that he ordered his Custom in September of 1975, and took delivery of AC 76-405 in June of 1976. If the bass in the picture is in fact his, (the first fret inlay is the biggest giveaway) there's a good guess to be made based on what stage it was in production.
* I wonder where all those basses are now?

The top right pic, on the desk in green looks like a Unimat milling machine, which I happen to use myself today.

To his credit Nick contacted me when he was thinking of putting it up for sale as he knew I really liked the bass. But the timing, and additional cost of shipping wasn't in my favour at the Time. I'm sure it has gone to a good home.

Look at all of those beautiful 70s Series basses! :)
