Title: Another Serial# History for Mica
Post by: sirmisterbubble on April 16, 2003, 01:06:22 PM
Hi Mica.  After finding this forum I am beginning to see why every review about Alembic Customer Support has been 100%.  I am buying my first used Alembic.  Can you tell me about SN #906027?  (I think the seller left out the S after 90 since this is a Spoiler).

You're right, the complete serial number is 90S6027 for this SLSB4

top: Flame Koa
body: Mahogany
neck: 3-piece Maple (long scale, unusual for Spoilers)
fingerboard: Ebony fretless
birthday: July 6, 1990

There is no record of repair for this bass.

If you wind up getting this bass, please do  register (http://www.alembic.com/cgi-bin/register.pl) it to keep the file current.

The long scale is not typical for Spoilers, most were medium scale. On a 4-string it shouldn't cause a balance problem. Also, Koa is one of our top choices for fretless tone, it's very warm and smooth.  Have you had a chance to play it yet?

Thank you very much for the information.  It came at a perfect time as I have yet to pay for the bass (ready to press the paypal trigger after this post).  I have not played it yet.  LS you say... hmm I didn't know that - I just assumed medium scale.  Having a non-typical spoiler kind of appeals to me as long as it is all original. The fretless / koa / completely mint condition is exactly what I was looking for even though the price tag is a bit high based on other spoilers I have seen around.  I know intuitively - not even having played an Alembic - that I am going to be spoiled rotten from now on... Bolt-on J's and P's and even my 4001 aren't ever going to be good enough after I take the plunge.  My crystal ball has just produced an image - wait! it's a series II with my name on it.  Will register it as soon as I get it.
Thanks Mica.
