The original owner was also an Alembic dealer who kept the bass in his private collection for about a year in Monterey, CA. He sold the bass to me, while my custom-build MKD was under construction. I gigged with it maybe half a dozen times in 2016, and then I used it as a backup bass in 2017. For the last year or more, it's been decorating the wall of my office.
I have another custom build in the queue, so I am happy to sell this bass to another club member at a reasonable price. I have it listed on Reverb, too. If you are interested, please contact me.

Another nice one :)
-
Indeed. :)
I was just thinking... my office would suck a lot less if it were decorated with Alembics. On the other hand, I wouldn't get a lot of work done in there. ::)
Good luck with your sales. Coupla' nice ones you're relocating there.

So far the only interest has been low offers from dealers who want to resell later. Luckily I have some time before the custom build it done so let’s see how it goes. Maybe someone will have a big tax refund and decide to buy a dream bass like I did a while back.

Price dropped down to $8998.

I’m taking 2 “old Alembics to Hawaii this weekend... pictures from Fleetwood’s to follow...
-
Fleetwood's... wow, that's gotta' be a tough gig to get... yep, I'd definitely have to take my Custom fretless on that one, if only for one tune. ;)
Have a great show.

The shows in Hawaii were a success. Here are a few photos:

Forgot to mention price dropped down to $8499

Ahh... so the 'Penguin & Porpoise' makes an appearance. Appropriate. ;) And is that #73-43...?
Given the deep bench on display, that must be one helluva Custom order you're doin'... you have my salute. There is one way, and only one I can think of, to top those two. 8)
-
Love that ‘73 bass. :)
-
Is that a Sarno Black Box under the DS-5?
-
Think it’s my Radial JDV DI... which sounds amazing by allowing the Alembic to be uncolored by lesser pre-amps.
-
No slight intended toward Alembic pre-amps - like the F1X or F2B... which are amazing. I have an F1X and SF2 in my home studio rack, which sound amazing. But on the road, I bring the Radial JDV which nicely fits in my carry on.

Going to give it another day, and then pull down my sale ads. Seems that with the recent bear market, it is a bad time to be a seller of a quality instrument. Good time to be a buyer, if the sellers need a cash call. Im good, so I will give it a day and see what happens, then this goes off the market til better times prevail.
-
Hmmm... that'll give me more time to save up. :)
-
Let the savings battle begin! I too am saving for this bass has hee! ;D
-
Just know it is still for sale to the Alembic club members. I took it down from Reverb and Talkbass.
-
We'll keep saving up... sweet axe there.
-
Wow, what a beautiful bass.

Smart move pulling it down off the market. It's got to be tough right now for anyone selling big ticket items. Even those people who you think would be safe in their jobs during a pandemic are being furloughed or asked to take pay cuts (I know several surgical nurses here in MN who have been furloughed and one doc who specializes in orthopedic surgery who has been asked to take a temporary pay cut because no one is coming in for procedures).
I wonder how the mothership is doing with new orders and if they've had any cancellations? I certainly hope they are getting through this okay.

One thing I noticed is that the number and quality of Alembic instruments listed on Reverb seemed to increase between March and April. I bought a vintage series 1, and pulled the trigger on a new series 2 custom build in January, so I wanted to sell a few lesser used basses to offset the expense. When I first listed my Alembic's I immediately got the whole sales offers from buyers who were really resellers who wanted to try for a quick deal. In hindsight - they were pretty good offers - considering how the market for these types of instruments has been hit for sure. Sad thing is that me band had our largest and highest paying calendar planned for this year and many of the public festivals have just flat out cancelled their series. Others have move us out to the late fall or winter, and some to next year. I am still optimistic thing will re-open, and gigging will become a thing again.

Looks like one of the tips to the omega was cracked off. Is this observation correct?

The bass was sent back to Alembic in 2016 or 2017 to have the lower horn repaired. At that time the inlay was upgraded from the basic press on to inlayed with abalone, and the hardware upgraded from brass to gold plated. It’s been perfect since then.
