Title: Meyer Bass Rig NAMM 2020 Alembic Content
Post by: StephenR on January 18, 2020, 11:08:31 AM
Couple of shots of the bass rig Meyer Sound is demoing at Winter NAMM 2020. They wisely included an Alembic F1-X and SF-2 in the rack. Cabinets are powered, bass is one of Geoff Gould's GGi5 strings. Dream rig which no doubt comes at a price point that is way beyond what most bass players can afford but still cool.

Can't find it on the Meyer site; are those stacks 1X18/2X12/2X12 and 1X15/2X10/2X10?

From the Meyer Sound Facebook page... "bass rig with two LINA and one 750-LFC". since the photos show two stacks not sure which is which, though.

This was the rig John Prock was encouraging me to check out from Meyer cabs and he took a rig over for Stanley Clarke to check out. I have no idea if he bought one though.
I checked out the UK price from a dealer over here for that rig and let's say I'm sticking with my current cabs

Someone is selling 6 of the 750-LFC subs with rigging and covers on ebay for $36,000. Maybe they are cheaper by the dozen? :)  These weigh 102 lbs with the rigging. Not that bad for Meyer gear but even if I had the money to buy something like this I wouldn't want to have to move it.

Jazzy, Barefaced claims that the Big Twin II is the closest thing you are going to get to a Meyer rig without the weight or price tag so you are pretty well set.

I got the opportunity to play through a Meyer rig back in the late 90s when I shared a bass rig with Phil Lesh at a couple of benefits for his Unbroken Chain Foundation charity. Sounded amazing and the low end was deep and effortless, I had never experienced anything quite like it. Amazing gear if you are in a band that makes big bucks playing stadiums and has a crew to deal with moving the rig but we can all dream... dreaming is free and doesn't weigh anything. One of the perks of living in the Bay Area is that a lot of the venues have Meyer PAs installed, great for listening and even better if you playing.

OK, a little poking more around the Meyer site armed with that new info, and comparing with the pix you posted, I'm gonna go ahead and say that description (which is for 1X15/2X10/2X10) refers to the right-hand stack (from our prospective), and the rig on the left is a 900-LFC (1X18) and 2 LYONs (2X12).
The mind, I must say, boggles.......
