Title: Does anybody knows nut sizes?

Does anybody knows if string post and barrel jack nuts are the same size (and which is/are)?

Mario, I meant to answer your thread last week and it slipped by me each day... sorry.  ::)

Anyway, the short answer is no, they are not the same. Every 1/4" jack I can find uses a 1/2" SAE mounting nut. There may be exceptions, but I couldn't find one. The mounting nut size for tuning machines are all over the place... since most Alembics have either Schaller or Gotoh, I checked them first. Schaller M4's, even the new models on my Custom fretless take a 14mm wrench. Gotohs, (and most of the copycats) use a 15mm. I'm guessing your Rogue came with Gotoh machines.

The only advice I ever dispense about mounting tuning machines is this: just snug the mounting nut, no more than a quarter turn. Any more than that compresses the wood and breaks the finish unnecessarily. You can't believe how many guys will grab a wrench and try to twist the threads off. Remember- finger tight, not farmer tight.  ;D

Hope you had a nice Holiday down there!
