I got sidetracked by other activities and haven't been practicing as I would like, but this week I've been trying to get practice time back on the daily schedule. Today I was working further on a tone I've been developing recently, and decided to make a recording to listen to on the stereo. It sounds promising, and though my playing was a bit sloppy in several places, I thought I would share it with you. The reverb might be a bit too big, and I should probably try rolling off the high end on the reverb as well. The tune itself is just an improvisation on a chord pattern I like to practice with, and the recording ended up a bit short; probably should have added another verse.

Very nice, Mr. Houck!! Happy Holidays, as well.

Very nice, David! It sounds a touch crisp to me (just my initial impression). Rolling back the highs a touch might smoothen out and warm up the sound a little bit. I like the reverb level, gives it ambiance and depth. Beautiful tune, thanks for sharing! And happy holidays to you and Sir Growlypants! :)

I could never see using a 6-string bass for myself, I was afraid I'd try to learn things like this and forget about playing in my usual fashion. Very nice Dave. It's amazing how 'acoustic' Alembics can sound, being put to good use here.

Sounds lovely, David.

Thanks everyone! I've since adjusted the reverb to take some high end off (which will reduce the "crispness" a bit) and reduced the room size just a bit as well, but left it at the same level.
And yes, the wide frequency range and clarity of an Alembic makes all kinds of interesting things possible.
Happy holidays everyone!

Very nice. A sweet atmospheric quality with classical influence. Great tone!
